Lateral Spread of Flame


Description
This part of ISO 5658-2 specifies a method of test for measuring the lateral spread of flame along the surface of a specimen of a product orientated in the vertical position. It provides data suitable for comparing the performance of essentially flat materials, composites or assemblies that are used primarily as the exposed surface of walls in buildings and vehicles, such as train and ships.

- Materials: SS 304 frame with MS powder coating control panel.
- Heat flux measurement range: (0-100) Kw / m2;
- Heat flux meter accuracy: ± 0.2Kw / m2;
- Heat flux meter accuracy: <± 3%;
- Porous refractory radiant panel size: 300mm × 450mm.
- High accuracy Mass flow controller is used for controlling the gas mixing.
- Radiant panel gas control from software.
- Calibration board with eight holes used for calibration.
- Ignition system: high-voltage electronic ignition.
Operating Software :
- LabVIEW based software shall be used to control the mixing gases.
- The results are expressed by the software in terms of the flame spread distance/time and critical heat flux at extinguishment.
